'Lockdown Lads' strip down for cheeky calendar to raise money for cancer research

Ooh... this naked calendar lark is a bit nippy at this time of year!

So fir play to tree fella Adrian Brunt and his handily placed chainsaw – not to mention rambler Richard Logsdail, 63.

They are two of the Lockdown Lads who came up with a series of cheeky pictures – and saucy captions too.

Adrian, 45, is Mr November – “with his big chopper”. Richard “putting his best something forward” is March, August sees guitarist Paul Ashmore “playing with his axe”, while October has Dean Brailsford, 48, “and his magnetic pumpkin”.

But, ahem... we’re not quite sure what the magnet is.

Calendar organiser Paul, 49, says: “We are certainly not Chippendales, but we hope our calendar provides some cheeky laughs and light relief during lockdown.

“I was having a few beers in my garden when the idea came to me. I’d lost three stone, so I was feeling more confident about my own body.

“I thought we could do a calendar to raise funds for cancer research, so I asked some of my buddies on Facebook if they would help.

“We have all lost someone special to us to cancer, so it was a cause close to our hearts. We decided to raise money for prostate cancer, the one that mainly affects men of our age.”

Paul is from Derbyshire and his fellow strippers come from close by, as well as neighbouring Leicestershire and in Northants, Glos and Cambridgeshire.

So how did they feel about peeling off?

Paul, who works in vehicle electronics sales, says: “It took courage. It was nerve-racking, but it was good fun too.

“When Richard posed in the woods with just his rucksack, the photographer was worried about bumping into any walkers. Luckily they didn’t see anyone!”

The pals couldn’t get a group shot because of lockdown.

And when five did get together for a festive snap, “Santa” was grounded by local restrictions – so Paul’s partner Nicola had to step in.

Paul says: “It’s been a challenge with all the restrictions, but we managed it. When life gets back to normal we will be getting together for a celebratory pint.”

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK – affecting one in eight men.

More than 47,500 are diagnosed every year and 11,500 die – that’s one every 45 minutes.
