Lockdown Ireland: Gardai allegedly raid large back garden Drimnagh house party with DJ and marquee

Gardai allegedly raided a south Dublin house party with its own DJ and marquee just days before the easing of lockdown restrictions.

Officers are understood to have issued dozens of fines for covid breaches as several members of the public order unit swarmed the back garden of a Drimnagh premises on Friday night.

It is alleged that on-the-spot fines were issued to everyone at the event with the apparent party organiser being stung with a heftier fine.

It comes as there was 100 people found at a house party breaking COVID health regulations over the Easter long weekend.

Gardai issued their latest update on fines that have been issued for breaking the pandemic rules, and said that in many cases up to 40 people are being found in attendance.

So far there have been 3,341 fines issued for the organisation or attendance at a house party.

Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security, Anne Marie McMahon said: "The vast majority of people continue to follow public health advice and regulations. We thank them for their sacrifice. We know it is not easy, but it is making a difference. It is appreciated by all Gardaí.

"Unfortunately, despite the constant public health advice, we are still seeing people attending house parties and other large social gatherings. Going to such gatherings puts yourself, your loved ones, and everyone else you come into contact with after of getting COVID-19.
