Lockdown dog heroes: Vote for our Bristol winner in the national competition

Bristol's lockdown dog hero Bruno needs your help to win the grand final.

By winning our competition, the delightful working Cocker Spaniel won a £100 Butcher's voucher, courtesy of our partners family-run food for dogs company Butcher’s, and a place in the grand final to find Britain's ultimate Lockdown Dog Hero.

Eighteen months old Bruno now needs your vote to become the winner of that competition and receive a year’s supply of Butcher’s as well as £1,500 towards a dog-friendly break.

Bruno has been living with Rachael Rickard and her partner James in their home in Kingswood since he was a puppy.

"Bruno is my first dog," she continued. "I have always wanted a dog and when we got the house two years ago we knew we were planning on getting one.

"Since we got him he has completely changed my life - he genuinely is the most friendly, loving and cuddliest dog that I have ever met.

"There have been times over the past 18 months when I have had personal things going on and he senses it.

"If I am ever upset, he knows and if I am crying he will try to lick your tears away

"He really has helped me."

Miss Rickard said they would be absolutely delighted if they won the national competition as they feel Bruno deserves a holiday structured around him.

"He is amazing, he is so affectionate and cuddly - he wants to be around people all the time," she added. "He loves other dogs too - he is very friendly towards them.

"He really enjoys going out on walks with his best friend Max, the Labrador.

"He absolutely loves attention and to curl up near you."

The dog owner said Bruno was very well-behaved even though they had never taken him to any formal training, adding he picks things up very quickly.

Bruno loves going on long walks and to swim, she continued, adding one of his favourite walks in Bristol is Oldbury Court. He also enjoys Ashton Court and Pomphrey Hill, where they go nearly every day for a walk.

Miss Rickard added she was thinking of taking him for some agility classes as she thinks he would really enjoy that.
