The big picture: As Trump made a rare public appearance outside the White House and his own hotel in D.C., the crowd erupted into "sustained booing" that reached nearly 100 decibels when he and first lady Melania Trump were shown on the big screen at the baseball stadium, the Washington Post reports.
- The president "appeared unmoved" as members of the sellout crowd also chanted "impeach Trump" after the public address system announcer confirmed the first couple's presence during a tribute to veterans, WashPost notes. "'Veterans for Impeachment" signs were also unfurled behind home plate.
Context: Polls suggest national support for an impeachment inquiry into Trump and his dealings with Ukraine is growing, and it's unsurprising that the president would get such a frosty reception in D.C. as it's a Democratic stronghold.
