Lochfoot villagers turn to youngsters in fight against irresponsible dog owners

Lochfoot children are calling foul on irresponsible dog owners who don’t clean up after their pets.

Villagers are furious about dog fouling and the village’s community council has enlisted the help of youngsters to combat the problem.

It held a poster design competition and the winning entries from Alaina Steele and Emily Anderson are now being displayed around the area in the hope they attract attention and get the message through.

Community council chairman Kelvin Frew said: “I’d like to stress that its very much the minority of dog owners which are the problem and visitors to our area.

“The majority of people pick up after their pets but we are fed up with those who don’t and the mess it makes.

“We thought the posters would be a good idea to raise awareness – especially to visitors.

“The council kindly converted their drawings into posters which we will attach to posts and railings locally.”

Alaina and Emily were invited on Thursday to see their work being displayed and have been presented with a gift for their winning designs.
