Loch Lomond campers slammed for dumping tent and leaving litter strewn over beauty spot

Campers have been slammed for leaving a site at Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park in a filthy state.

Bosses at the popular beauty spot took to social media to highlight the disgusting aftermath left behind by visitors.

As well as dumping their tent, the group also left litter strewn across the grass, reports the Daily Record.

Alongside the "disgraceful" images, the national park wrote: "There are stunning places to camp here in the National Park, please leave them that way.

"Abandoned campsites like these are treated as flytipping and can result in a £200 Fixed Penalty Notice or a fine of up to £30,000. If you’re camping this weekend, help us protect and conserve this special place by leaving no trace of your visit."

Before long, the post had received over 220 likes and dozens of comments from fellow Instagram users. Many were quick to share their thoughts on the "absolutely terrible" state of the camping spot.

One wrote: "C’mon to flip folks, Scotland is beautiful, let’s keep it that way. Enjoy the sunshine and scenery but leave the place as you found it."

A second shared: "Absolutely terrible! Irresponsible camping just gives weight to those who push for stricter by laws and our rights to wild camp.

"Not to mention the effect on the environment."

"Disgraceful that people think this is acceptable," echoed a third, while a fourth agreed: "This makes me so angry and sad."
