Locavore crowdfunding to open third grocery shop in Glasgow's Garnethill

Locavore - Scotland's first social enterprise supermarket - has launched a crowdfunder to help open its third premises in Glasgow in the Gartnethill area of the city.

The popular grocery shop is well-known for its organic produce, including fresh bread and dozens of tasty deli treats, and is renowned for its zero waste, community-focused outlook.

The team currently operate two shops at Victoria Road in Govanhill and on Dumbarton Road in Partick, and plan to open in the space vacated by the Project Cafe in March if the crowdfunder - which hopes to raise £3000 - is successful.

This time last year Locavore took over the Project Cafe and ran it for 10 days, but closed it as the pandemic set in.

The shop will offer a wide range of local, organic and zero waste foods and goods and will be a shop rather than a cafe - although Locavore plan to serve hot drinks and light bites for takeaway or eating out on the lovely terrace.

The crowdfunder currently sits at 21% with 13 days left to go after kind-hearted locals raised £800 so far.
