Locals warned to be on alert after stag escapes from Donabate farm

Residents of a north Dublin village have been warned to be on the alert after a stag escaped from a local tourist attraction.

The stag is understood to have escaped from Newbridge House and Farm in Donabate on Sunday evening.

The Georgian mansion is home to a popular working farm that includes a range of animals, including deer.

Local Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee issued the warning to residents on Sunday evening.

She said: "A stag has escaped from  Newbridge House and Farm  If you are driving in the vicinity of the Hearse Road or around Donabate, please exercise great caution."

Locals expressed concern that the stag could be injured and cars could be damaged if they hit the animal.

A fully grown stag can stand at 1.5m at the shoulder, measure 2m in length and weigh up to 250kg.
