Locals wake up to string of cars on fire as gardai investigate mystery attack

Gardai are investigating an arson attack after three cars were destroyed and three more were marked by a fire in Co Meath.

The incident happened around 5:30am on Saturday morning at St Finian's Terrace with an inferno engulfing multiple cars in the estate.

Fire services were called but couldn't save three cars from being destroyed while three more were badly marked.

Gardai are now appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Navan are investigating a suspected arson incident which occurred around 5.30am this morning at St Finians Terrace. Three cars were completely destroyed by fire and three more suffered scorch marks from the heat. The incident occurred at the end of the Terrace in a Cul De Sac laneway.

"Anybody who witnessed any suspicious or unusual activity in the area between 4.30am and 5.30am this morning is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on 046-9079930 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666111."
