Locals in Co Wicklow have been left stunned after the tragic death of a young mother.
Nadine Lott, 30, from Arklow, lost her fight for her life in hospital on Tuesday night.
A family friend said the Lott family have been left devastated over her death.
Nadine, the mother of a six-year-old girl, and her family are said to be very well known and respected in the area.
Fianna Fail Councillor Tommy Annesley said the community is in a state of shock following the incident.
He told the Irish Mirror: “I’m sick to my stomach and the whole town is in a state of shock.
“God help her and her family. I know the family very well. She was a lovely beautiful, girl and came from a very good family.
“I just can’t even bear to think about her poor daughter. I am absolutely devastated for them all.
“The family stayed at her bedside since she was brought to hospital and were with her when she passed.
“Christmas is ruined for them forever.”
The young woman worked locally in a beauty salon and around 1,000 people gathered for a candle lit vigil on Monday night.
Mr Annesley said: “I was late coming from the town last night and every person I spoke to is just devastated.
“I can’t fathom what happened. Her poor daughter and Nadine’s sisters and brothers. The whole community will rally around them through this time.
“We had a candle lit vigil Monday night and there was easy 1,000 there and everyone was praying so hard for her.
“This is everyone’s worst nightmare and the time of year doesn’t help.”
