Locals stumped by mystery ground markings as strange symbols raise questions

A number of Kildare locals have been left stumped by mysterious markings that have appeared on the ground.

The black and white circles have shown up in the area around Cock Bridge in Springfield raising a number of questions.

Local Senator Mark Wall said the symbols have been put there by an engineering company working on the Athy Blueway on behalf of Kildare County Council.

The signs are used to identify utilities and topography, the Labour senator explained.

He said: "Good few enquiries about these markings: they are part of the Blueway development.

"An engineering company are carrying out work on behalf of Kildare County Council who have responsibility for the road and bridge crossings on the Blueway.

"These are to identify utilities and topography. Another step forward!"
