Locals slam Edinburgh City Council over cable-tied signs making social distancing difficult

Locals have slammed Edinburgh City Council over 'cable-tied' signs taking up room on the street and making it difficult to socially distance.

One man even claimed that was he was unable to move a sign out of the way of an elderly woman because it was tied to a bus post.

After the issue was highlighted online, Edinburgh City Council said they were going to move the signs "as soon as possible."

One furious Edinburgh local highlighted the issue ranting: "How is this possible in a PANDEMIC where people need to keep 2m from each other to SAVE LIVES.

"Ridiculous doesn’t even begin to describe it. @edinhelp @lmacinnessnp

"Why are these signs on the pavement? Clark Street, next to Queen’s Hall."

Another claimed that he had tried to help an eldery woman pass saying "This is at Ocean Terminal.

"See that old lady with the walking aid?

"Tried to move this sign for her to pass. it’s cabled tied."

Edinburgh Live has reached out to Edinburgh City Council for comment.
