Locals ring gardai over suspected house party after sing-song nearby but officers find no rule breaks

Gardai were called to a suspected house party after loud singing in part of Mayo at the weekend, but found no offences.

The video above is what could be heard from a nearby residence in Louisburgh, Co Mayo shortly after midnight on Friday.

A group of people could be loudly heard belting out 'Unwritten' by Natasha Bedingfield which one local described to the Irish Mirror as lacking respect for residents trying to sleep.

Louisburgh has seen an influx of staycation holidaymakers in recent months with the lack of people heading on foreign holidays.

But Gardai say they found no offences in regards gathering size when they arrived, with the group not in breach of Covid guidelines.

However they did ask the residents to keep the noise down before leaving the scene.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí received reports of high levels of noise at a residence in Louisburgh, Mayo on 29 August 2020 at approximately 1.00am.

"Gardaí spoke to residents, who undertook to reduce noise levels. No offenses disclosed."
