Locals invited to submit ideas for former Arnold Clark site in Glasgow south side

Local residents and members of the public have been asked to submit comments and ideas for a new residential site in Shawlands.

The former Arnold Clark site on Nithsdale Drive has been proposed as a new residential development, and both the business and their architects Page\Park aim to submit a planning application in May or June 2022.

Pre-application discussions are progressing with Glasgow City Council for the area, but the application will not be submitted until the public has been consulted.

Page\Park say they are undertaking virtual consultations to 'seek the views of the community on the proposals, and to share the analysis and research which helps inform the design approach'.

They added: "The team recognise the importance of providing the community and local stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about the emerging proposals and to make their views known in the context of the planning application."

The design of the building seeks to sympathetically 'fill the gap' and place a continuous terrace along Nithsdale Drive, complementing the scale and aspirations of surrounding buildings with particular reference to local heritage.

To submit comments, you can join the live zoom events on Wednesday, March 30, 10.00am to 12.00 noon and 4.30pm to 6.30pm and Wednesday April 27 on 10.00am to 12.00 noon & 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
