Locals in Carlow report hearing two 'mighty' bangs late at night as they search for answers

Locals in Carlow are searching for answers after hearing two "mighty" bangs late on Tuesday night.

Many people were awoken by the noises shortly after midnight but can't find an explanation as to what they were.

The bangs were reported on both sides of Carlow between 12:30 and 1am.

Droves of people were in contact with local radio station KCLR96fm, who are asking if there are UFO's in the area.

One caller told KCLR Live: "I'm in Rossmore View in Graigue Cullen, it was two mighty big explosions.

"I wouldn't say rock the house but oh my gosh they were so loud, so much so that I thought they were in my area.

"I got out of bed and looked out and no sign of anything, about half an hour later the second one came but I didn't hear anymore after that."

More and more people also claimed to have been woken up by the loud noise around the county with no one having an explanation as to what the sound was.

One social media user said the noise "woke up the whole house" while another said her dog was given a big fright.
