Locals' fury after vandals destroy life saving equipment in Rush

Locals were left furious after callous vandals destroyed life saving equipment in a north Dublin seaside town.

The AED at SuperValu in Rush has been put out of action after it was vandalised by anti-social louts.

This is the third time the defibrillator has been damaged.

The AED was installed by the volunteer Rush Community First Responders group, and is one of six public AEDs available in the area.

The group hopes to have it up and running as soon as possible.

A post on the Rush CFR group Facebook page says: "Once again our AED at supervalu has been damaged. This now puts our AED out of action until it is repaired.

"To who ever damaged it, I hope you realise that you are taking LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT off the street!!! The camera will be checked and the Garda informed. This is the 3rd time this box has been vandalised.

"We will aim to have it back up and running ASAP.

"The AED at the harbour bar will be back in action this evening."
