Locals fill entire van with rubbish after covidiots trash East Lothian beaches

An entire van has been pictured stuffed full of rubbish bags after residents spent this morning clearing mess left behind at local beauty spots.

The East Lothian Countryside Rangers took to social media to vent their frustration after seeing a huge rise in the number of makeshift campsites and parties leaving behind a shocking amount of junk.

The rangers have spent recent days cleaning up behind the groups who have recklessly left rubbish and belongings behind, including one site that took over three hours to clear.

The same site had left such a huge collection of rubbish that the rangers were able to fill their entire van from the cleanup, with 25 bin bags bursting at the seams.

Items such as cans, broken glass and nitrous oxide canisters were also found in multiple locations.

Nitrous Oxide is also known as 'laughing gas' and is illegal in Scotland, although it is commonly found in party towns abroad where there are no restrictions on its use.

In a tweet, the countryside rangers stated "you've carried it in with you so carry your litter home with you".

An easing in lockdown restrictions combined with warm weather has seen an astonishing rise in the amount of litter dumped in public parks and beauty spots.

This week, shocking images were released of the Meadows covered in litter after thousands had flocked to the park to enjoy Wednesday's and Thursday's record breaking temperatures.
