Locals have been left terrified in their own homes after thieves allegedly busted open the door of a house in south Dublin using crowbars and hammers.
Tallaght has been rocked by spates of attempted break-ins over the past few weeks with Kiltipper, Old Bawn and the surrounding Aylesbury area being targeted of late.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, a house in Killinarden was broken into with the alleged culprit using the weapons to gain access inside.
Another homeowner complained of thieves wearing balaclavas allegedly targeting properties in the area with metal bars.
A spokeswoman for the Gardai confirmed that they received a report of the attempted burglary in the Killinarden area.
She added: "The incident occurred on Sunday, 20th October 2019 at approximately 12.30am.
"Damage to the front door and window of the house was reported. No property was reported stolen."
Last week it was revealed that Tallaght homes were still being targeted by thieves with numerous houses broken into in the area following on from the 'Carl' scam that terrorised residents.
At the start of October, Dublin Live reported that Tallaght tenants were being hounded by a mysterious woman as part of the break-in trick.
Residents of Kiltipper were warned to be vigilant of a creepy woman who was going around knocking on doors looking for a place to stay.
When answered, the woman would say that 'Carl sent her' adding that he told her that the house had a bed to spare.
