Dalkey residents fear a new housing development will bring "absolute chaos" to the southside village.
An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for a 105-unit Strategic Housing Development at Charleville, Harbour Road, Dalkey against the advice of its own inspector.
But locals fear the development will lead to traffic chaos in an area that already has extremely limited parking.
Dun Laoghaire TD Cormac Devlin shared news of the controversial decision on a local Facebook group this afternoon.
He said: "An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for a 105-unit Strategic Housing Development at Harbour Road, Dalkey.
"In granting permission the Board overruled their inspector and the Chief Executive of DLR County Council.
"They did however attach a number of conditions, including reducing the height of some apartment blocks."
Residents quickly rushed to slam the planners' decision.
One woman said: "Harbour road is going to be absolute chaos when the schools go back... the existing building sites already seem to occupy all of the (now severely limited) parking, and this site will add to the chaos.
"Nobody dropping off small children to school is going to have a chance."
Another resident agreed, saying: "I drive down everyday and the building works opposite Patrick’s already causes trouble.
"I remember getting collected from Loreto 15 years ago and it was chaotic, can only imagine what it would be like now. No thanks."
While one local asked: "Why do the board have inspectors if they never heed their recommendations?"
