Locals evacuated after suspected carbon monoxide leak

  • A man in his 50s has died following a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a takeaway restaurant in Bloxwich, Walsall, on Friday evening.

  • Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance crews, were called to the burger shop in Cresswell Crescent around 9:40 PM.
  • Nearby residents and shop workers were evacuated from the area, with one witness describing seeing CPR being performed.
  • Locals were allowed to return to their homes in the early hours of Saturday after tests, with a local councillor suggesting a generator was releasing gases.
