Local pub make incredible gesture to Sean Cox fund ahead of charity match

A bumper crowd is expected to attend the Sean Cox charity match in the Aviva Stadium this evening and one generous local pub has made an incredible gesture ahead of the game.

The match between a Livepool Legends XI and a Republic of Ireland Legends XI has been organised to raise funds for the Sean Cox Rehabilitation Fund.

The die-hard Liverpool fan was seriously injured last year when he was attacked outside Anfield before the Reds' Champions League semi-final clash with AS Roma.

Sean Cox gives heartwarming public thumbs up and thanks everyone for support in first public video since attack

And nearby pub Slattery's in Beggar's Bush have decided to do their bit to help out by donating a euro from every pint sold this evening to the fund.

The Support Sean Twitter account praised the boozer for their contribution.

Sharing a picture of the pub's pledge, they said: "Great goodwill for #supportsean from the pubs around Aviva Stadium.

"This from slatterys in Beggar’s Bush. It would be rude not to have one."

Dad-of-three Cox will make his first public appearance since the attack at tonight's game.

In a heartwarming video release earlier this week, the Dunboyne man gave the thumbs up and said "thank you" to the public for all their support.

Niall Quinn, John Aldridge, Robbie Fowler and many more legends of the sport will also be taking part in the event.

The game will be shown live on Liverpool's official TV channel LFCTV, as well on LFCTV GO, and the club's official YouTube and Facebook pages for free - and you can find more details here .
