Local pub closes in West Lothian and reveals plans to change use to shops

A popular pub announced it was shutting and revealed renovation plans.

The owners at the Crown want to transform the premises and create new businesses onsite.

West Lothian Council validated the proposal from the developer F & M Cortellessa on Monday Jun 28.

The developer wants to renovate the pub into class two units, which can be financial services, or the likes of a betting shop.

The council are now considering the application by F & M Cortellessa for the change of use at The Crown on 24 East Main Street in Blackburn.

The owners at the popular local pub in Blackburn suddenly announced they would be shutting last week online.

A statement said: “We are sorry to say that from today we are closing for the foreseeable future.

“We want to thank our customers massively for all their support over the years.

“We will update yous with any change in the future.

“Again thank you & take care.”

The existing plans show inside the spacious grounds of the pub, with a dance floor, pool tables and restaurant.

The plans appear to show three separate units, with the floor spaced cleared, but it is unclear at this stage what kind of premises will be opening, other than that they will be class two, financial or professional services.
