When Boston borough council street cleaner, Kevin Capps, heard an early morning cry for help from a woman at an ATM machine in Boston Market Place, he didn't hesitate for a second.
The street cleaner had seen the woman using the cash machine as he collected litter on his 8am round on Thursday, 9 December. However, he'd also noticed a man standing suspiciously close to her. When it was clear the woman was in distress, Kevin leaped in to stop the man.
A shop keeper and a member of the public also responded and they detained the struggling man until police arrived. The woman was taken into the bank while Kevin and the others helped police handcuff the man. A local government hero indeed.
