Where is my polling station in Newcastle, Sunderland or Gateshead for the 2019 general election?

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, December 12 for the first December general election since 1923.

In the North East, seats in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Northumberland, Durham and Sunderland are being contested.

Polling stations open at 7am on December 12 and close at 10pm. Read our full polling station guide.

If you have chosen to vote in person, you can find out where to cast your ballot by checking your polling card.

However, you do not need to take the card with you, so if you have misplaced it do not worry, you can just turn up to your polling station.

But if you haven’t received a polling card at all - and think you should have - contact your local electoral office. To find our where yours is, go here www.gov.uk/get-on-electoral-register

Newcastle voters can find their nearest polling station by entering their postcode here.

Gateshead voters can find out where their nearest polling station is by clicking here and entering their post code.

North Tyneside residents can locate their polling station here.

South Tyneside residents can find out where to vote here.

Sunderland voters can find out about voting here.

County Durham voters an find more information here.

Northumberland votes can find more information here, although a list is not yet available.

When you get to the polling station

Give your name and address to the staff inside the polling station when you arrive. You do not have to take your poll card with you.

You’ll be given a ballot paper containing a list of the people, parties or the options you can vote for.

Filling in your ballot paper

Take your ballot paper into a polling booth.

Follow the instructions on the notices in the polling booth and on the top of the ballot paper to vote.

Put it in the ballot box.
