Local chip shop in Broxburn organise surprise treat for staff at West Lothian nursing home

Residents and hard-working staff at a West Lothian nursing home enjoyed a tasty treat courtesy of a generous local business.

Mario’s Fish and Chip bar in Broxburn handed in fish suppers to Middleton Hall nursing home, also in the town.

The chippy’s owners said they wanted to do something nice for residents, who haven’t been able to see family due to lockdown.

Ali Liaqat explained: “We handed out 40 fish suppers and the idea came from my daughter Sarah Ali, who said that in such hard times it would be nice to something for the elderly.

“We have had a good response from the care home as they have ordered a few times.

“We hope that in such hard times, people will support us as local business.”

Middleton Hall manager, Ann Simpson, said the residents were delighted with the treat.

She added: “The residents and team were so touched by the generosity of Mario’s who gave us a lovely supper of fish and chips.

“It’s been a challenging time for everyone and acts of great thoughtfulness like this remind us that we’re part of a community that really cares for us.”
