Local butchers voted best in the west for their high quality produce

Supporting local businesses is something that Bristol does extremely well, and proudly so.

Butchers and meat experts, Rare Butchers of Southville, situated at 250 North Street in Southville, are one business that ensure that local produce always plays a pivotal role in their organisation.

Providing customers with a variety of high quality and free range meat from farmers across the south west, the organisation recently scooped the Retailer of the Year Award at the 2019 Bristol Post and Bristol Live Business Awards.

Fighting off a host of competition to take home the prize, the organisation shared their delight at the awards event at Ashton Gate where some of the best local businesses came together to celebrate our prestigious business sector.

The retailer of the year award focuses on the company that has best demonstrated that they are at the heart of both rural and inner urban life and form an essential part of local community. Judges were looking for how they contribute to the business community in Bristol, providing employment to local people, as well as offering consumers choice, quality and service.

One customer said; “I've shopped at Rare ever since I moved to this part of Bristol. Their meat is excellent quality, sourced locally from selected farms. They offer a great variety including game, make their own sausages and cure their own bacon. Chris and all the team are just lovely – really friendly and helpful. I won't be buying meat anywhere else.”

Owner Chris Cierpik and his team took to Facebook after the event and shared their delight at being commended for the Retailer of the Year Award.

“Very proud to have won Bristol Post Retailer of the year 2019. Good news for Butchers and local independent traders. Thank you to all our loyal customers.”
