Local business taking part in Edinburgh Marathon to raise £2k for new Portobello beach wheelchair

Runners from a local business are to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon in a bid to raise enough money for a new bespoke beach wheelchair at Portobello.

Beach Wheelchairs is an Edinburgh-based charity that helps disabled people explore Portobello Beach and allow child and adult wheelchair users to venture onto the sand.

Staff members from The Physiotherapy Place, located on Portobello High Street, are taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon relay to raise funds for the charity.

In a post appealing for donations, the team wrote: "Portobello Beach Wheelchairs are raising funds to purchase a new bespoke wheelchair costing in excess of £2,000. 

"In support of this local and worthwhile charity we hope to be able to purchase this wheelchair before the summer months when we expect more demand for beach visitors.​​​​​"
