Local building firm donates to Rutherglen and Cambuslang foodbank

Two local foodbanks have received generous donations from a construction company that is giving back to the communities in which it is building.

Employees of Cruden Building are lending a helping hand to those most in need this winter by donating foods and essentials to Rutherglen and Cambuslang foodbank and Castlemilk Baptist Church foodbank.

The Cruden staff who made the kind gesture are currently working of developments at Auld Kirk Road, Cambuslang, and Barlia Terrace in Castlemilk.

The grateful recipients are among foodbanks across 10 areas in the West of Scotland to receive thousands of items from Cruden Building, part of the Cruden Group – one of Scotland’s largest, independently-owned and longest established construction businesses.

A whopping 7.5 tonnes of food – that’s the equivalent of £25,000 worth of collections – are now being delivered to local communities surrounding Cruden developments, which will go a long way to helping those who are most in need this Christmas.

Jamie Gracie of Rutherglen and Cambuslang foodbank, said: “Support from local organisations is more important than ever this year after the impact and fallout from the pandemic.

“Demand is higher than usual for foodbanks and we are no different.

“We’re so pleased that Cruden Building staff from developments across Rutherglen and Cambuslang are committed to supporting the local community in this way, together with many other foodbanks across the West of Scotland.”

Colin Kennedy, construction director of Cruden Building, added: “This has been a tremendous team effort and everyone was really, really keen to take part and support this worthy cause.

“We were delighted by the response that we received from staff and their donations across our developments.

“We take huge pride in building local communities and we are pleased to be able to support the Rutherglen and Cambuslang and Castlemilk Baptist Church foodbanks.”
