Local Boys Brigade in Armistice commemoration

Three officers represented the 131 Company Boys’ Brigade at an Armistice Day commemoration at Rutherglen Stonelaw Church last Wednesday.

It formed part of the short service which takes place in the church every second Wednesday afternoon.

Due to government legislation, only Lt Walter Smyth, Anne Smyth and Mabel Moore were able to take part, and they were honoured to present the Company flags.

Also on display in the church was the result of the boys’ latest challenge, which was to paint stones with the poppy motif.

Said Lt Walter Smyth: “The result of their enthusiasm is the splendid testimony of a young generation recognising a memorable day.

“The Company has not been together since March, but the officers, boys and their families have been involved in projects and participated in games via social media. The Company recognises and is thankful for the support that we receive.”
