Loan striker Kyle Wootton signs for Notts County on permanent deal from Scunthorpe

Notts County's promotion hopes have been given a significant boost after they completed a permanent deal for loan striker Kyle Wootton from Scunthorpe United.

The Magpies have paid an undisclosed sum to the Iron for their top scorer, but the fee is believed to be around £60,000.

Wootton has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Meadow Lane with the move finally ending  speculation about the striker's future.

Notts confirmed last week they had agreed a deal  with Scunthorpe  for the 23-year-old after working on the deal to sign Wootton for the last two months.

But they were waiting on the forward to make a decision amid fears he could  move elsewhere.

Despite interest from other clubs,  however, Wootton  has opted to stay at Meadow Lane to spearhead the club's promotion push.

He  has scored 12 goals already  this season having arrived from the Iron initially on loan in the early weeks of the campaign.

He has since become a key part of Notts' bid to return to the Football League with boss Neal Ardley a huge admirer of the forward.
