Loan move 'turned down' for Nottingham Forest-linked midfielder amid uncertain future

Midfielder Filip Krovinovic has returned to pre-season training with Benfica, having been linked with a return to Nottingham Forest this summer.

And it is said his parent club have turned down another loan move for him, this time to Croatian side Hajduk Split.

Previous reports have suggested Benfica are looking to sell Krovinovic rather than loan him out again - something likely to rule him out of coming back to the City Ground, although Forest will no doubt keep tabs on his situation.

Croatian newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija say the 25-year-old is on Hajduk’s transfer wish list, but Benfica “did not approve” the loan.

His agent, Marijan Sisic, is quoted as saying: “Benfica did not approve Filip's loan to Hajduk.

“Maybe it all tickled you that Filip recently spent three days in Split with a friend, he likes to come there, he has company... But it was not related to Hajduk.

“As for the negotiations, it is true that he must report to Benfica at the beginning of the preparations.”

Krovinovic has since posted a picture on Instagram of himself back with his teammates in Portugal.

His future, however, remains up in the air following the end of his spell with the Reds.

His club are said to have placed an €8m price tag on his head and are reportedly keen for him to move on permanently.

Turkish side Alanyaspor and Russian outfit Spartak Moscow have previously been credited with an interest in the former Croatia Under-21 international.

And Slobodna Dalmacija added that “the door should never be closed completely” on him heading to Hajduk.

Krovinovic had something of a mixed spell during his time on the banks of the Trent after joining in January.

Each of his 19 appearances all came in the first XI, but he struggled to help solve the Reds’ goalscoring troubles, finding the back of the net just once.
