MUMBAI: The city Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has initiated a preliminary enquiry (PE) against DHFL promoters – Kapil Wadhawan and Dheeraj Wadhawan – for not repaying a loan of Rs 96.25 crore to a private bank.
Loans of Rs 550 crore were given to DHFL during 2012 and 2015. While the Wadhawans repaid Rs 450 crore, the remaining amount was not paid, the EOW said.
No FIR has been registered. A decision on further legal action will be taken after the PE report. The Wadhawans are in jail in connection with the Yes Bank cheating case. A private bank official had submitted the application against the Wadhawans.
