There was a heavy police presence on the M32 this evening (June 22) as the motorway was closed in both directions.
Officers shut the route in both directions for around one hour.
Drivers reported being stuck in standstill traffic on the motorway, at approximately 8:30pm tonight.
An eyewitness said: "There were loads of police cars. The whole M32 was closed off, I'm home now but was on the M32 for 20 minutes before police made me reverse back to the nearest exit.

"When I was driving home, more police including a riot van were heading in the direction of M32."
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We were responding to a concern for welfare. The road was closed.
Highways officers assisted police during the incident.
A planned closure is now in place southbound between J1 (Hambrook) and J2 (Eastville).
Roadworks are being carried out between 9pm and 6am tomorrow.
