Lo Celso boost, no Scarlett but academy ace involved - 5 things spotted in Tottenham training

Lo Celso return

Things are now starting to look up for Giovani Lo Celso following his return to the training pitch with his teammates.

Not featuring for Tottenham since injuring his hamstring against Leicester City prior to Christmas, the classy midfielder is back in full training and with the ball at his feet again.

However, Spurs fans may have to wait a little while longer before he is back on the pitch for the first time in months.

"Serge is fine, he's fine. Trained today with the team without any limitations," said Mourinho, when asked in his pre-match press conference for an injury update.

JOSE MOURINHO PREVIEWS TOTTENHAM V BURNLEY IN PREMIER LEAGUE

"As I was saying, everybody is training with the team and Gio is the only one that is not in conditions to play this weekend. I think even next week will be quite premature for not to say impossible, but he's coming.

"Today for the first time in a long time, the medical department could watch the [Europa League] draw as they didn't have any players inside."

The return of Lo Celso to training is definitely a good sign for Tottenham ahead of a crucial couple of months.

Youngster involved

Academy ace Alfie Devine was also involved in the first-team training session at Hotspur Way on Friday.

Making a huge impression at the club since his summer switch from Wigan Athletic, Tottenham fans are desperate to see more of the teenager following his debut goal in the FA Cup tie away at Marine last month.

Playing his part for the U23s this season after initially starting out with the U18s, the midfielder wasn't involved at all for the development squad as they took on Blackburn Rovers in a Premier League 2 clash at their training base.

Instead he was with the first team and he could be spotted up against Tanguy Ndombele.

Scarlett back with U23s

After making a big impact off the bench on Wednesday evening with an assist for Carlos Vinicius' second goal of the night, Dane Scarlett was back with the development squad for their fixture.

The 16-year-old was captured alongside coach Matt Taylor ahead of their encounter against Blackburn Rovers, a game in which he started on the bench.

Scarlett wasn't the only academy ace involved against Wolfsberger AC to be back with the U23s as Marcel Lavinier, Nile John and Dilan Markanday all started against the Lancashire side.

With Dinamo Zagreb to come in the next round of the Europa League, Scarlett will be hoping to be picked again as Mourinho can name 12 substitutes in the competition.

Sissoko passing on advice to Alli

Dele Alli was in top form on Wednesday night with a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Wolfsberger AC.

The 24-year-old looked in very good mood during Tottenham's training session and he could be seen getting up to his old tricks as he was balancing the ball on his head.

Alli was also seen in conversation with Moussa Sissoko, with the Frenchman looking like he was passing on some advice to his teammate.

Maybe he was telling Alli the key to scoring against Burnley after his rare goal in the home fixture last season?

The new Gazzaniga

Paulo Gazzaniga is still waiting to make his first appearance for Elche since joining the La Liga side on loan last month.

Falling down the pecking order at Tottenham in the first part of the campaign following Joe Hart's move to the club, the Argentine will be hoping for a change in fortune very soon as he looks to start games between the sticks.

Gazzaniga may now be in Spain but it's like he still remains at Hotspur Way.

Electing to grow his hair out for a longer style after having it short last season, Alfie Whiteman has done likewise this year and is now sporting a bun as his teammate did before his Elche move.

A quick glance at the goalkeepers in training and many would believe it was Gazzaniga training alongside Hugo Lloris and Hart again.
