LNER train delays through Leeds after two trains collide

Railway services will be disrupted for much of today after two trains collided in Leeds, leaving one derailed.

LNER says no-one was injured in the low-speed crash at a depot in Leeds, which involved an empty passenger train.

But travel disruption is expected between Leeds and Lincoln and London King's Cross until 6.30pm on Thursday.

An LNER spokesman said: "There has been a low speed derailment of an empty passenger train within the depot near Leeds.

"No one has been injured in this incident."

Some services between Leeds and London King's Cross will be cancelled entirely, others won't run between Lincoln and Newark North Gate.

LNER tickets will be accepted on Great Northern and Thameslink services between Peterborough and London Kings Cross while anyone who can't travel may be able to claim compensation.

The spokesman said: "You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today.

"Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim."
