LNER offers money-saving loyalty scheme for members

Rail operator LNER is offering a money-saving loyalty programme for all its members.

Under its LNER Perks loyalty scheme, the operator is offering customers the chance to get a free £5 and 2% credit back on every journey.

By downloading the app and booking an LNER journey, customers will earn 2% credit back for every £1 spent.

Credit can be spent in the LNER app or donated to one of the company's charity partners.

Last month, rail fares increased above inflation despite a huge drop in demand for trains during the coronavirus pandemic.

Many commuters have been working from home at various points since March 2020, due to the stay home requirement and lockdowns to combat Covid-19.

But the Government pushed ahead with a 2.6% hike in rail tickets, which is the RPI measure of inflation plus one percentage point.

LNER continues to run reservation-only services and is offering a limited catering offer onboard to support customers in maintaining social distancing.

The rail operator says mandatory reservations allow social distancing and give customers peace of mind knowing they will have a seat and be safe onboard throughout the duration of their journey.
