LNER hits back at passengers moaning about delays after person hit by train and killed

LNER has hit back at passengers who moaned about delays after a person was hit by a train and killed.

The tragedy happened at around 9.40am today, resulting in trains being cancelled between Peterborough and Stevenage, affecting passengers travelling between Leeds and London Kings Cross.

But the train company was forced to out people who complained they would be late for their meetings on Twitter, reminding them to be kind.

One person even branded the the impact the death was having on theirs and other people's was "a disgrace".

On social media LNER tweeted screenshots of the complaints, adding: "Do we need to remind people that some poor individual has lost their life?

"Their suffering and that of their family and friends pales in comparison to your missed meeting.

"We'll get you to your destination, their family won't get them back. #Perspective #MentalHealthMatters."

The Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat.
