LNA Denounces Tunisian Involvement in ‘Conspiracy’ Against Libya

LNA spokesman Ahmed al-Mesmari said he was surprised by what he described as Tunisia’s "involvement in the conspiracy" against Libya after Tunisian President Kais Saied called for Libyan tribes to hold an extensive meeting to find a Libyan-Libyan solution.

Anger kept on growing among Libyan political circles on Thursday and several tribes nixed the invitation and considered it as an ‘intervention in the country’s affairs.

In a press conference with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saied announced that a second meeting for heads of Libyan tribes will take place soon in Tunisia to pave the way towards a peaceful solution in Libya.

Mesmari said Wednesday he was shocked by the Tunisian statement, as the conference in Tarhuna had represented all cities and tribes, stressing that Qatar's Emir was visiting Tunisia to spoil the outcomes of that conference.

The Libyan Tribes Forum, held last week in Tarhuna, urged resisting all forms of foreign intervention namely the Turkish intervention, lifting arms’ embargo and rejecting any dialogue or truce before the mercenaries and invaders leave the country.

Several Libyan tribes issued statements on Wednesday to decry the calls for the tribes’ meeting in Tunisia, deeming this as a conspiracy against the nation and its components.

For his part, Member of the High Council of State Mansour al-Hassadi said that the Tunisian president should have backed the GNA since it is internationally recognized. He also said tribes should not be politicized and their social role should be maintained.
