Lloyd Griffith has quit Soccer AM ahead of new football season

Comedian Lloyd Griffith has quit Soccer AM ahead of the new football season.

The 36-year-old has been on Sky's cult series for two years but wants to work on other projects and continue with his career in stand up.

The show, which first began in 1995, will continue but now be fronted by the remaining hosts Jimmy Bullard and John Fendley.

Lloyd told  Mirror.co.uk : “It’s not been easy deciding to stand down but I do so knowing the show will go from strength to strength led by Fenners, Jimmy and the brilliant team. I’ll miss everyone loads but I’m looking forward to sharing more about what’s next as soon as I can.”

Next up for Lloyd is a one off doc for the BBC this weekend called Can You Beat The Bookies?, which explores the betting industry. It looks at whether it’s possible to get one up on bookies, and also shows the darker side of betting

The Soccer AM team said: “We’d like to thank Lloyd for his contribution to Soccer AM over the last 2 seasons. With his unique brand of humour and comedy performances, he’s been a big part of the show’s continued success. We wish him all the best with his future projects.”

Soccer AM will be back in August with the new Premier League season on Saturdays at 10am on Sky One and Sky Sports.
