Police are treating the death of a man found fatally injured in a Llanelli street as murder - after the 47-year-old was officially named.
Dyfed-Powys Police today confirmed the man found in Coleshill Terrace in the early hours of yesterday (June 29) morning was Andre Yan Irwin, who lived in the town.
His family, who are being supported by specialist officers, today paid tribute to the "brilliant" family man.
They said: “We are devastated at the sudden and tragic loss of a brilliant father, son, grandfather and fiancé.
“Andre was a great role model for his grandchildren, and will be very sadly missed.
“We would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and support following this tragedy, but would appreciate privacy and time to grieve our loss.”
A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is still in police custody.
Det Chief Insp Anthony Evans, who is leading the investigation, said: “I can confirm we are now treating this as a murder investigation.
“Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Irwin, who we are supporting at this sad time.
“We would still like to hear from anyone who has any information about what happened in Coleshill Terrace in order to build a full picture of events, and I would like to reassure that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
Anyone who was in the Coleshill Terrace area between 3am and 3.45am on Saturday, June 29, or anyone living in the street who has private CCTV is asked to contact the major crime team at Dyfed-Powys Police by calling 101.
