Llanelli Christmas Carnival 2019 times, road closures, route and entertainment

There are just days to go until the most festive night of the year returns to Llanelli .

The hugely popular Christmas Carnival sees thousands of people line the streets of the town centre each year to catch a glimpse of the decorated floats.

Entertainment, food stalls and funfair rides will all be on offer, as well as a special fireworks display to round off the night.

Here's all you need to know about the event.

When is Llanelli's Christmas parade?

This year's parade will be on Friday, November 22 .

What time does it start?

The outdoor market in Stepney Street will be open from 9am and the funfair rides in Spring Gardens will be open from 4pm .

Live acts will be taking to the stage near the town hall from 5.15pm .

Floats will make their way from Festival Fields to the town centre (www.adrianwhitephotography.co.uk)

The highly anticipated parade will get under way at 6.15pm with the floats making their way to the town centre.

The Christmas lights will then be switched on at 6.45pm before all of the floats will arrive at the town hall at around 7pm .

At 7.40pm a spectacular fireworks display will mark the finale.

8.15pm 9pm

What will be happening?

Stepney Street will be lined with stalls of festive food, treats and gifts, getting people ready for what is known as the biggest night of the year for the town.

There will be plenty of street entertainment throughout the day and a number of fairground rides and stalls will be set up in Spring Gardens.

Radio DJ Tommo will compere the evening, with performances by local singers.

The town's Christmas lights will be switched on by Llanelli chamber of trade and commerce competition winners Farah Asada of Ysgol Brynteg and Weronika Szafran-Drafc of Ysgol Penrhos.

Their winning designs will be illuminated as part of the decorations in Stepney Street.

What is the route?

The route will start off from Festival Fields before heading along Pembrey Road and Hall Street.

The floats will then make their way along Church Street before turning onto Queen Victoria Road and Erw Road and will then arrive back on Church Street near the town hall.

Will there be road closures?

Santa will even be making an appearance in the parade (www.adrianwhitephotography.co.uk)

Yes, a number of rolling road closures will be in place will the parade procession is under way.

Cowell Street will be closed from 12pm until around 8pm .

Station Road and Church Street , from its junction with Murray Street to its junction with Gelli Onn , will be closed from 5.45pm until 8pm .

For the first time this year, Gelli Onn will be closed to westbound traffic only from its junction with Thomas Street .

The carnival parade prize presentation will take place on the main stage at and the funfair will then close at .
