Llandudno hotel staging opening ceremony to celebrate after six months of closure

A Llandudno seafront hotel is staging its own opening ceremony after being shut for six months.

St George's Hotel, sited on the famous promenade, wanted to mark finally reopening as lockdown restrictions are eased.

It is a big day for the whole town with many of the resort's hotel reopening on Monday and thousands of tourists set to arrive.

At St George's they have rolled out the red carpet and will cut a ribbon to mark the special day.

Nathan Cousins, group sales and marketing at the Anderbury Hotel Collection, which operates St George's Hotel in Llandudno, said: "The whole team is so excited to be able to re-open on the 17th of May.

"It’s been many months of worry and concern about when we could reopen and what the restrictions would be.

"We are pleased that there are still a safe level of restrictions still in place in terms of limiting numbers of guests allowed to sit together and general social distancing but are eagerly awaiting the next announcement when we are able to host larger weddings and events so that we can operate our business in a more normal manor."

He said that while they have been apart from each other and their customers they have used technology to keep that link.

He added: "Even though we have been closed over the last few months we have been working hard to ensure our voice is still heard, our social media pages have been receiving great support from our guests from the content we have been publishing.

"Our marketing message has been heard as business when we reopen is looking very strong with demand for seaside breaks in Llandudno being very strong.

"We now can’t wait to open our doors and welcome everybody back to St George’s."
