Cardiff Council's planning committee have rejected an application for a temporary car park on Llandaff Fields.
The application was unanimously refused at a planning committee yesterday. Officers felt the 52 parking spaces on the field outside University of Wales Institute, Cardiff would harm the character and appearance of the Llandaff Conservation Area, result in the loss of open space in the city, and worsen traffic congestion on Western Avenue.
Local people also felt the car park would damage enjoyment of the area for dog walkers and joggers. Read our earlier post on the application here.
Green campaigners were pleased after the recommendation to refuse the application was granted.
Alan Lane, vice president of Bute Parks Alliance, said:
"We are delighted that it's been refused on conservation grounds and the defence of areas of green space.
"I think it's regrettable that UWIC has allowed that area to be unused, however. It's got particular potential as an amenity space, but it looks neglected."
