Llaeth y Llan yogurt maker secures Asda supermarket deal for new range

Yogurt maker Llaeth y Llan has secured a deal with Asda to launch a new range across its supermarkets in Wales.

The Llannefydd, Conwy, based dairy has agreed a contract with the store giant for its brand new 0% range.

They will be sold throughout the 39 Asda stores across Wales, with more retailers due to follow suit in 2020. They have also recently secured listings with its traditional range with Aldi and M&S.

Owain Roberts, managing director, said they had been in development on the new product for a number of months.

He added: “Our main focus is to bring sustainable growth to our business and manufacturing into Wales.

“We like to think we are benefiting the local economy by bringing in contracts that were previously made on the continent into Wales and use locally sourced Welsh milk to do so.”

Established in 1985, it remains a family run business on Tal Y Bryn Farm in Llannefydd to this day.

Sourcing the milk locally from the Vale of Clwyd and now employing over 50 staff, the company has experienced major growth through their branded yogurt and national private label contracts, where turnover increased over 30% in the last financial year.
