Lizzo quits Twitter after vicious trolls attack the 'Good As Hell' singer

Musician Lizzo has announced she is taking a break from Twitter after troll attacks.

In the early hours of this morning the star tweeted, "Yeah I can’t do this Twitter s*** no more.. too many trolls... I’ll be back when I feel like it."

Lizzo has previously hit back at Twitter trolls who have criticised her on the platform. In December, one user wrote “Lizzo popular is because there is an obesity epidemic in America. Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are. Unfortunately, many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease.”

The star had a robust response to the tweet, telling the person behind it, “I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love. The only person who needs to do better is you. Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Here’s the attention you ordered.”

While Lizzo's account remains active, the star has announced she is stepping away from Twitter for the time being. She also has an active Instagram account with 7.2 million followers and recently took time out from her tour of Australia to ask people to support victims of the wildfires still raging across the country.

"Being over here in Australia has really given me a real time view into what's happening with these devastating fires and for all of my followers who are mostly American, I just want to say that this is a global crisis" she said.
