Lizzo dons custom VOTE dress to accept Billboard Music Award

Never one to shy away from the limelight, Lizzo made a sartorial statement last night as she accepted a Billboard Music Award.

Wearing a custom iteration of Christian Siriano's VOTE dress, which is a look from the designer's spring/summer 2021 collection, the performer implored the American people to cast their vote in the upcoming presidential election on November 3.

While Lizzo looked sensational in the number, she's not the first star to rock the look. Actress Julianne Moore posed in the runway look on her Instagram, and model Coco Rocha debuted the look during Siriano's recent show.

To accept her award, Lizzo wore her hair in a high ponytail (not dissimilar to the Duchess of Cambridge's recent model) and accessorised with chain-link bling.

According to research from Lyst, searches for "Vote" merchandise have increased 92 per cent in the last fortnight.

Lizzo was nominated in 11 classes at this year's Billboard Music Awards, and won in the Top Song Sales Artist category.

The 32-year-old has been using her platform to galvanise her followers to vote since June, when she first posted an improvised 'Vote' song to her Instagram.
