Lizzo announces unexpected new project inspired by her childhood

  • Grammy-winning singer Lizzo announced her debut children's picture book, Lil Lizzo meets Sasha B Flootin’, which is scheduled for release on September 8.
  • The book, illustrated by Mark Pett and published by Simon & Schuster, centers on a bubbly girl and a brassy flute as they find belonging and purpose.
  • Lizzo stated her aim for the book is to teach young people that passion can lead to purpose and fulfilling dreams, drawing from her personal experience with the flute.
  • The book will be released along with an original song Lizzo wrote.
  • This new career move follows a 2023 lawsuit by former backup dancers alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment, which Lizzo has denied.
