Lizzie McGuire reunion: Hilary Duff confirms Gordo is back for Disney+ reboot

If you grew up in the 90s or early 2000s, life has been pretty good thanks to the endless television reboots and boy band reunions that keep coming our way. And if you were especially dedicated to the Disney Channel, the latest Lizzie McGuire reboot news will have you freaking out (and desperately trying to find your butterfly hair clips), because Lizzie and Gordo are officially reuniting.

Hilary Duff posted a photo of the onscreen best friends earlier this week, which had fans excited given that she was sporting her character’s trademark bangs and an extremely Lizzie-appropriate outfit.

Shortly before Duff shared the news on her Instagram, Disney+ posted their own video announcement with Duff. “I’m so excited to be back, I’m so excited for you guys to come along on this journey with Lizzie,” she said before listing other members from the original cast joining her. But just when we thought she was through, Adam Lamberg, who originated the role David “Gordo” Gordon, jumped into the frame. “The fam’s not complete without me,” he said before officially confirming, “Gordo’s back!”

Ever since Disney+ announced that the series would be making a comeback, the updates have been rolling in. In October, Duff shared that the whole McGuire family would be joining her when she posted an Instagram picture on the new set with Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas (aka, Lizzie’s mom, dad, and annoying little brother Matt).

Later that October, Duff shared more behind-the-scenes moments, posting a photo from her first day filming as Lizzie in New York. According to Entertainment Weekly, the reboot will follow Lizzie as she approaches her 30th birthday, working as a decorator’s apprentice in NYC. Even though she’s grown up, the series is still keeping the animated Lizzie we all know and love, along with much of the original cast and the series creator Terri Minksy serving as showrunner and executive producer. This reboot really is what dreams are made of.
