Livingston Women’s boss Paul Jaconelli says it’s ‘horrible’ picking a starting line-up for the Lionesses because everyone is performing at a high level.
Livi made it three Championship South wins on the bounce with a commanding 7-0 away win at BSC Glasgow in a performance the gaffer hailed as ‘professional’.
Speaking to the Courier, he said: “The performance spoke volumes to me. It was a terrific, professional 90 minutes from everyone and we’re getting better every week.
“We’re getting there in terms of the level of performances we need to be producing to get to where we want to be come the end of the season and there’s a real confidence from the girls right now.”
He added: “We could have scored more but you’d take 7-0 in any game and the goals are still being shared about, which is really pleasing to see.
“Ashley (Fish) is our highest scorer and didn’t get a goal – that shows the level we have at the club.
“It’s becoming really horrible picking a starting line-up because you’re having to leave folk out who are playing really well when they get the chance and are more than capable of producing a brilliant 90 minutes.
“Obviously as a manager you want to make decisions like that because it speaks to the volume and depth in the squad, but it doesn’t make it any more pleasant.”
The Lionesses have six games left before the split and Jaconelli believes his side could be reaping the rewards of a challenging start to the campaign which saw them play three of their fellow top five sides within their first seven games.
He said: “At the time you’re really frustrated about dropping points, but it was a tricky start to the season and maybe that was a positive and you’re hoping that stands you in good stead.
“We were ironing things out and trying to get going but I think we’re now at a level where the coaches and the players can see the benefits of that.”
He added: “We have to concentrate on ourselves and keep picking up wins. If we do that then we’ll be in a position to take advantage of other teams dropping points because there’s still a few games between that top five before the split.
“The players are giving everything and going about their training and games in the right manner and that’s all you can ask for from a manager’s point of view.”
