Livingston winger Josh Mullin says nobody knows Livingston better than David Martindale - and that makes him the ideal candidate to become the club's new gaffer.
Martindale admitted he has thrown his hat into the ring as they search for a replacement for Gary Holt, but insists he's happy doing whatever role the club ask of him.
Mullin, who is approaching 100 appearances for the Lions, has been convinced - twice - by the interim boss to sign for the West Lothian club and he has no doubt that he deserves a chance to be the head coach after six years working tirelessly for the club.
He said: "I would 100 per cent support that and I think all the boys would.
“Not just in football but away from football, I’ve got a great relationship with Davie. He brought me here the first time round and I had a great two and a half years at the club.
“I stayed in contact with him when I was away up in the Highlands and he even said to me there was no-one happier than him to see me doing well.
“And then he was the one who brought me back again."
He added: "From my point of view, nobody knows the club better. He’s the first in in the morning and last away at night.
“The club means a lot to him. I think you can tell that when you speak to Davie.
“He wants the best possible for everybody at the club, it’s not just about him. Whether you’re a player or staff, he wants the best for everybody - and in general life. That’s just the kind of guy he is.
“That’s why I think he is well respected and if he was to put himself forward for it then I’m sure he would be backed 100 per cent.”
